The sun was shining brightly over San Clemente, casting a golden hue across the coastline as I prepared for Anna and Malik's wedding day. Since the bride grew up in San Clemente, it felt perfect to have the coastal beauty of her hometown be part of their day.
One of the things that struck me about Anna was her quiet confidence. She was so lovely, easy-going, and beyond stunning. She was intentional, thoughtful, and just the sweetest person to be around. Anna wanted a very natural, radiant look for her wedding that was authentically herself. As someone who does not usually wear makeup, we collaborated to create a gorgeous look that was perfect on camera but, most importantly, made her feel beautiful and confident in person.
The wedding reflected their shared passions for surf culture, exquisite farm-to-table cuisine, and the breathtaking beauty of Hawaii. Their chosen venue—President Nixon's estate—added an undeniable charm and uniqueness to their celebration.
The Venue: An Iconic Estate
Using a private estate for the wedding was especially meaningful because close family friends owned the home and graciously allowed them to use the venue to curate their perfect day. Having access to the venue ahead of time made for a relaxed and enjoyable morning for the bride and her family, free of stress.
Anna, being a private chef, placed great importance on curating menus that reflected their tastes and preferences. Even while we were getting ready, Anna effortlessly whipped up delicious juices and healthy snacks for everyone to enjoy.
The venue itself was a unique highlight for their guests, offering the rare opportunity to experience a piece of U.S. history up close.
A Touch of Hawaii in Every Detail
Anna and her family all wore bracelets with their names in Hawaiian—even her lovely grandmother. The thoughtful incorporation of Hawaiian influences could be seen throughout the wedding day, down to the beautiful lei Anna wore over her dress. These touches created a heartfelt connection to the islands and added a layer of personal significance to their celebration.
The Groomsmen: A Stellar Support Team
Being surrounded by friends and family made the day even more special. Many of Malik's groomsmen were professional surfers, and their energy added a certain flair to the wedding. They wore light beige linen suits that perfectly matched the coastal vibe, and their excitement for the day ahead was infectious.
The epic dance party that followed was one for the books!
A Stylish Arrival
As we leisurely got ready in the morning, Anna's dad came bounding up the stairs to let us know their neighbor down the street was going to let them ride the short distance to the venue in his vintage red Porsche! He was so excited to share the news, and it was such a cute moment for him. This last-minute addition really made for some stunning photos and gave her father the joy of surprising them with something truly special.
