Behind the Scenes: Super Bowl 2021 Commercial Magic
It’s not every day that you get to work on a Super Bowl commercial, but in 2021 I had the honor of being part of a memorable project during a time when the world was anything but normal.
Because we were at the height of COVID, we had to adapt in major ways. The entire shoot was set up outdoors in someone’s backyard, and we worked with a skeleton crew to keep things safe and streamlined. The simplicity of the setup didn’t stop the team from pouring every ounce of creativity into making this commercial special.
Uncertain Beginnings, Unexpected Success
One of the wildest parts of the experience was that when we wrapped the shoot, we didn’t even know if the commercial would be accepted for the big game. But it was—and not only that, it ended up being a hit! The commercial ranked #12 out of the 53 spots that year, which was such a proud moment for everyone involved.
Fun Fact You Didn’t Know
There’s a sweet personal touch hidden in the commercial that makes it even more meaningful to me. The line "Let's their daughters braid their hair" features my daughter’s old hair bow! Seeing that little detail on-screen during one of the biggest events of the year was such a surreal and special moment.
Looking back, this shoot was a testament to the resilience and creativity of the entire crew. Despite the challenges, we created something that resonated with millions of people—a reminder that great things can happen even in the most uncertain times.
