Bohemian Romance
They recited their vows under an asymmetrical arch made of eucalyptus and pampas grasses overlooking the Torrey Pines cliff side, and danced the night away under the starry sky of Rancho Santa Fe. As perfectly stated in the Brides feature, Chantal Yakou and Tyler Merritt threw the ultimate San Diego wedding. A little coastline and a little garden feel was the perfect combination to create the boho chic wedding they were aiming for. They wanted their wedding to represent their personalities and their families and that is exactly what it did. It was personalized from the custom florals and four tiered Oreo and funfetti flavored cake, right down to the signature cocktails inspired by the brides mom and dad.
Both the ceremony location, Torrey Pines Reserve and the reception location, The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, served as neutral palettes and with added pops of copper, amber and fuchsia the look was absolutely stunning. The tables were decorated with fresh grapefruit, cacti, and insanely gorgeous floral arrangements from our friends at Bloom Babes. Copper mugs and amber colored glasses complimented the florals as did the bougainvillea that naturally flourished at the Inn; all adding to the romantic boho vibe. RO & Co. Events nailed this one, as usual, and Whitney Darling Photography captured each detail and intimate moment seamlessly!
Chantal explained that she wanted everything to be unique and eclectic with a classy bohemian style – undone and easy. The dress was very much her style, clean and simple but then unique with he headpiece veil. ChantaI told me that she actually fell in love with her cathedral-length veil/headpiece first, and then found a dress to go with it; quite opposite of most brides’ wedding dress shopping style. After later removing the veil, she put on a sheer cape to keep the unique vibe going, which I just loved about her and her style. When it came to the rest of her look, her makeup was really all about the lashes and incorporating those coral tones from the rest of her wedding decor. Her natural beauty was enhanced with a peach cheek, copper and natural tones on her eyes, bold lashes and a sheer coral lip. Her skin was flawless, her hair was beachy and her overall wedding look was to die for! The makeup we did on her is not only a great bridal look, but since it is a more natural and toned down look, it is great for everyday as well. For the bridesmaids, we did a take off of Chantal’s look with the coral and coppery tones and also kept them feeling natural, yet polished. They wore a mix of a solid coral and floral print dresses, all long in length. They all felt flirty, yet elegant, with a touch of the bohemian flair to tie it all together.
Truthfully, the look and feel of this wedding is what Southern California is all about. The absolute perfect juxtaposition between land and sea together in one. Textures, colors, smells and sights that heighten your senses and bring you a feeling of love and devotion.
